Florida Atlantic University Increases Retention
for First Time In College and Transfer Students
In the first year of First Year Connections more than 1,400 incoming first-year and transfer students were connected with a relevant peer mentor. When disaggregated by demographics, including transfer and commuter status, all populations persisted from fall to spring at higher rates than peers who did not participate in the program.
Our anticipated first year return on our investment with Mentor Collective will be about 3 dollars earned for every 1 dollar expended. More importantly, it takes the ‘back of the house’ efforts from on the ground FAU staff; and allows our greatest resource, our people, to spend more effort and energy on direct
student support.”
