The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Increases Retention By Scaling Peer Support
Students are often unaware of all of the support services available to them. UNC Charlotte knew designing a student experience that highlighted resources, addressed concerns, and ultimately supported student growth and retention would be best, but also complex and time consuming.
UNC Charlotte partnered with Mentor Collective to enhance their student success strategy by incorporating intentional peer mentorship into the new student experience.
“We see mentorship as a key piece of the overall puzzle of student success, particularly peer mentorship. We see more and more students not responding to the kinds of outreach we do that comes from our staff, our academic advisers – even the faculty – but they are much more responsive when they are connected to their peers for the same kinds of information.””
